As you get deeper into your integration experimentations, what are you noticing? Are you seeing things in a new way? Are you finding that the topic is around you in a way that it never was before? Are you having more conversations about it? Are you thinking about it more? Are you reading about it more? Have you taken any notes or written anything down to keep track of your process? What do you notice about yourself as a learner? Are you putting it off until the last minute, or are you truly giving yourself the luxury of thinking about it for awhile and letting it simmer? Has this "thing" that you have randomly chosen become a part of your everyday life and thinking? Have you forgotten what it was you had chosen? Has your focus changed? In what way?
You do not have to answer all of these questions, but I am hoping that one of them will allow you a "way in" to thinking about what you are noticing....so you can tell us all what you are noticing!!

I get very overwhelmed trying to do this on my own. Of course, it is in the middle of a soccer game or some other event, and I realize that my pictures are not coming out like I want them to and at that point it is too late to whip out the little guide book and look up what my situation is (ie: my high speed sports/action pictures are all blurring) It has something to do with the amount of light, but I don't know how to fix it. I asked someone at the game who was also taking pictures, but he started talking some "foreign" language about ISO's and shutter speed and apperatures.... so back to the book I go. I really need to sign up and take a class where I can ask someone the questions while I am trying things. I am a very hands on and interactive learner, so I am now in search of a photography class.... any one have any suggestions?
I am noticing that I am obsessed with blogging! I have now set up 5 blogs and I go to them all daily. And that does not even include the one that I was first invited to that got me thinking about trying one! They have proven, thus far, to be an incredible way for me to keep in touch with all of the people in my schools
I am also noticing that everywhere I go there are conversations about
blogging...either that or I am just more in tune with it.
Wow.. so many questions, so little time! I guess I have done some thinking about what I want to do, which path to go, but I have many questions that lead me down a different road.... What are your expectations of our final project? What should it contain, a journal? items? final paper? presentation? I guess I don't quite understand what our final goal is.
I've already hit a fork in the "baseball" road because I wanted to bring the "curse" into the present by using the World Series. I'm totally glad they won in a sweep, but if they went to a sixth game it would have been on Halloween night. Then we really could have tested the curse.
So maybe I can find another twist, as I read about the curse. Now with the end of the baseball season, I can focus more on this project.
I would definately say that I am letting it simmer. I have been thinking about this trip for awhile. I bought three books to get me started. I have been on numerous web sites, and I even bookmarked them so I won't have to start my hunt again but...I'm not quite sure I know what I need to do with all of the information I am gathering. I'm with Barb, I'm not quite sure what the expectation is. I have spoken about it with numerous people and I feel better in the fact that we are all in the same boat. A few people seem to know what they are doing, but it seems like the majority of us are still looking for that magic rudder to steer us in the right direction. As my ship is now sailing aimlessly I better find that rudder soon or I might have to jump in the life raft.
As I get deeper into my integration experiment, I find that I have many of the same questions as Barb and Sandy. I want to know the expectation for the final project. I love the use of rubrics in the classroom because I know exactly how to get an "A." Ok, Ok, I know I'm a bit of a perfectionist-"type A" and all that. So, an open ended project like this is very hard for me. But... maybe I will grow from the experience.
So far, I have done a lot of research on the internet. I have run off countless articles and highlighted important points. I am also planning on interviewing the owner of a bead store. In addition, I have collected several bead magazines which I need to peruse. When I collect information, I find that I don't do so in journal form but rather I write information down in bulleted notes. I am a list maker!
Barb is a technology guru!!!!!!!! She is amazing a what a team player. She deserves an A+.
Well, I was off and running on my garden project. I began reading a book, taking pictures of local gardens and ripping out gardening tips in magazines. Twice I visited the garden store with my new knowledge and twice I left confused. It's the planning I am struggling with, and as a visual learner, my resources have not provided me with a vision. So I switched gears for time sake...I am currently taking a Digital Storymaking class, and decided to use this for my Integration Experiment by creating a CD for my son's Christmas gift. (The two birds with one stone...) As a learner, I am noticing that I need both the written word combined with hands on lessons. And that I definitely have to practice the new steps a few times before I feel secure. It has become a daily thought, the planning is in constant revision.
Between report cards and planning a gathering in honor of my husband's 65th, my mind has been spinning. Several hours at Barnes and Noble basically led to great frustration for me. In hoping to find information on Irish folklore, I could find lots on the development of the Irish language (very dry!), tons of Irish folktales (some are really cool - perhaps I'll share one of those), and Irish legends galore. What I really wanted to find out more about were, I guess, Irish superstitions. With all this racing in my mind, I found myself WIDE awake at 2:00 AM Sunday morning (party for husband due to begin at 12:00 PM) so I headed to the computer to see what I might find. At last, stuff on Irish folklore (aka superstition) Having found this, I don't think it will be enough on its own, so looking into other parts of Irish culture, particulary music (traditional and folk). Have a grand list of Irish movies which might provide some fun and very visual time spent on the project. Irish food (especially the soups I so enjoyed when I was there) also are a possible additional facet. Still hoping to preview and plan my next trip over to cover the parts of the country I missed last time. Hopefully, all of this will sometime begin to take some kind of cohesive shape rather than the overwhelming great green blod which torments my simple brain at the moment. Do you think we could all enjoy a Guiness or a Bailey's together???!!!
I am finding that I am noticing all kinds of antiques. I am in the process of packing my mom who is moving, downsizing into an apartment. I love the old items, antiques, or just old memorabilia. The timing is uncanny but my time is so pressed due to this new responsibility that I have. Mom is 82 and really needs us to do the work of packing and moving. So I relish the items as we put them gingerly away in the packing boxes.
